This multi-paneled installation is made up of sixteen large format Polaroid photographs. Together, they form a single image of the artist's body suspended over a watery environment. With only her back visible, her braids cascade into the deep blue waterscape below.

The image contains a number of metaphors and symbolic motifs: the placement of the artist's brown body can be interpreted as a tree trunk and her hair extensions then become roots dangling in water. An artist whose themes frequently refer to her Cuban heritage, Campos-Pons's work summons associations with the Middle Passage, the transatlantic slave trade that brought West Africans to the Americas across the Atlantic Ocean.
