Contemporary Art Society
Founded in 1962, this dynamic group allows its members and the public the opportunity to expand their understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through educational programs, social events and community collaborations in an informative friendly environment. Through their generous support, Contemporary Art Society (CAS) members help build the Museum’s contemporary art collection. CAS regularly hosts lectures featuring nationally and internationally renowned artists who have included: Vik Muniz, Layah Ali, Kiki Smith, Amy Cutler, Ghada Amer, James Casebere, and Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons. Members of CAS also enjoy opportunities to:
- Visit local artists‘ studios, tour private collections, and attend international shows
- Join contemporary art study groups, learn about emerging trends, and compare views and opinions with others
- Help build the IMA‘S contemporary art collection
- Dine and dialogue with prominent artists, collectors, critics, and historians at special CAS events
